Filing complete!

It’s official! Wednesday, Dec. 16, Blake completed the necessary paperwork, submitted signed petitions and paid the $3,750 filing fee necessary to be placed on the Democratic Primary ballot as candidate for Place 9 on the Texas Supreme Court.

Here’s a link to a news article by Adam Russell of the Tyler Morning Telegraph about the filing http://www.tylerpaper.com/article/20091217/NEWS14/912160374

Interesting note: Most candidates for state office have the option of simply paying a filing fee (or in lieu of paying a fee, gathering the signatures of 5,000 registered voters) candidates for a statewide judicial office. However, in the case of a statewide judicial position, such as the one Blake is seeking — Place 9 on the Texas Supreme Court — candidates must get the signatures of at least 50 registered voters in every judicial district in addition to paying a filing fee (or gathering a total of 5,000 signatures).

The campaign gathered the signatures of more than 1,100 registered voters throughout the state, thanks to the effort of many of Democratic supporters who signed and circulated petitions.

Thanks to all those who made it possible … now get ready to help us win!
